San Miniato and the white truffle
San Miniato, in the province of Pisa, is known for the white truffle (Tuber magnatum Pico) of its hills, harvested from September to December. In the last three weekends of November it hosts the White Truffle Fair in the historic centre; exact dates each year should be confirmed with the Fondazione San Miniato Promozione. The centre has a ZTL with gates: check with the municipal police. Truffle hunts and cooking classes are booked with their organisers; we take care of the journey.
