The Alfina plateau and truffles
The Alfina is a volcanic plateau at about 600 metres between Umbria and Lazio, made of fields, woods and old stone farmhouses. Its best-known spot is Torre Alfina, in Lazio, with its castle and the Bosco del Sasseto. Truffle hunts and walks are booked with local operators: the chauffeur takes you to the meeting point and collects you afterwards, without organising the experience. Hours and access are best asked of the Pro Loco or the Acquapendente tourist office.
